Weekly payrolls are more expensive in total given that, for example for a staff of 20 being paid weekly, this is equivalent to runing 1040 payrolls compared to 240 payrolls for 20 monthly paid staff.

It is therefore more cost effective to pay employees monthly where possible.

If you use SAGE 50 for your payroll, you will need to have Sage Cover to ensure that your software is up to date. For a single company, employing up to 50 persons, this cover amounts to at least £260 plus VAT each year and on top of that you will have the wages for the person processing the payroll, all stationery costs and related administration time.

If we processed your payroll for, for example, 10 employees, the cost of this would be £347.52 plus VAT for a year or £28.96 plus VAT per month – this is for a full service and includes all year end compliance.

You will have cover 52 weeks a year, no need to worry about holiday or sickness cover. Please see our matrix for more examples.
